Safety Guidelines

Please distribute a copy of these safety guidelines to all members of your group.

Fires

Fires may only be lit within established fire rings and under proper adult supervision. Please respect all county regulations regarding the lighting of fires. The Forge campground pertains to Union County, Oregon. Up-to-date information about burn bans may be found on their website.

Motorized Vehicles

Motorized vehicles must remain on established roads at all times. Four-wheelers, motorcycles, dirt bikes, side-by-sides, and other recreational vehicles are not permitted, with the exception of their use by responsible leaders for transportation and logistical purposes only.

Rappelling

Secure anchors have been installed atop a 90 foot granite precipice with a beautiful view of the surrounding valley and the creek below. Certified facilitators and proper equipment must be provided by each group. Equipment must meet safety standards, including (but not limited to) a secondary safety harness with active belay, helmets, gloves, and close-toed shoes on all participants and facilitators.

A safety waiver must be signed by all those who wish to participate.
