The Kindernothilfe e.V., was founded in 1959 supporting five children in
Kerala, India. The work of KNH grew in India as well as in other parts of the
world, India having the largest number of children.
Negotiations for
integrating the work of KNH with the Church in which it had most of the children
under its fostership started in 1967. This culminated in the formation of the
Council for Child Care, a body under the Synod of the Church of South India, to
take over the responsibility of child care of KNH in the Hostels, Home and
Orphanages under the management of the Diocese. CCCYC was thus established in
the year 1969.
Kindernothilfe today works in more than 1017 Projects in 28 countries and
supports and reaches 568,245 children.
